Brandon Snippe, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual interference.
A three-year-old girl told her mother that Snippe had touched her “there” while pointing at her genitals, prosecutor Suzanne Schriek said.
The girl, who first disclosed the abuse as her mother gave her a bath, said he’d made her touch his “bum,” which “for her could be anything in the crotch area,” Schriek said.
On Feb. 4, the mother called police, who immediately interviewed the other children at the daycare, as did Children’s Aid Society officials.
A seven-year-old said that she was watching TV at the daycare with her little brother and Snippe when he exposed his penis to them.
She laughed and he covered himself.
Defence lawyer Robert Meagher said the touching was a “one-off incident” according to the little girl and that while Snippe lived at the home he was not a paid employee of the daycare.
He has never been in trouble with the law before, co-operated fully with police and has pleaded guilty at an early stage.
The court ordered Snippe to undergo a sexual behaviour assessment before he’s back in court Sept. 9.
