Former Dundas school janitor John Vermeire jailed for sex offences
A former Dundas high school janitor has been jailed for historical sexual offences.
John Vermeire, 55, was charged with more than 30 offences last year ranging from invitation to sexual touching to sexual interference to sexual assault.
He worked at Highland Secondary School beginning in the 1990s and later as a restaurant delivery driver.
Hamilton police issued a release Friday alerting the public Vermeire was sentenced in court Thursday to five years, four months in jail. The exact number and nature of the convictions was not specified.
Police thanked the community for help during the investigation, noting that “sharing of information and use of social media had a significant impact” on their efforts.
